Square Enix is embarking on a brand new quest to find the world's first FINAL FANTASY Superfan. Scouring every corner of the globe we're looking for a fan unlike any other, who goes beyond the call of fandom with an unequivocal commitment to all things FINAL FANTASY. What makes a FINAL FANTASY Superfan? Is it an encyclopaedic knowledge of FINAL FANTASY trivia? Maybe it's having an unmatched FINAL FANTASY collection? If you think you think you've got the unparalleled qualities that make a FINAL FANTASY Superfan and can shine high above the rest of your competition, then we want to hear from you.
From the 18th October 2012 until the 22nd October we'll be asking you send in your video submission exhibiting your enthusiasm for FINAL FANTASY. Simply create a video (no more than 60 seconds) to showcase your Superfan candidacy and submit it to www.ff25th-anniversary.com/superfan. If selected as one of the finalists you could be crowned FINAL FANTASY's first ever Superfan and win a 'Once in a Lifetime' prize.
But don't sit idly by twiddling those thumbs, time is ticking! Once we reach 300 video submissions the competition doors will be closing. A select panel of Square Enix judges will sift through the submissions on the search for members of the community who go above and beyond the call of being a fan.
But who better to choose the final winner that the community themselves. Once our panel of judges reduce the pool of contenders down to 25 finalists where you, the community, get to vote.
If you think you've got what it takes head to www.ff25th-anniversary.com/superfan and submit your entry. For the latest up to date progress in our mission to find the world's first FINAL FANTASY Superfan follow @FF25TH_EN on twitter.
Update 24/10/2012: Due to some of the unforeseen downtime of the website we're happy to announce that we're extending the competition deadline until 29th October 2012. This will also allow you plenty of time over the weekend to put together your video submissions. I'd also liked to cast aside any doubt you may have that videos that are submitted now won't be considered by the panel of judges.

Seriously Square, when do you start making Final Fantasy tapestry and curtains? =D
(I know, looks like a total mood-shift from my last post/'s)
Now, with the cat out of the bag, I'd like to make a small mention about my idea of FF fandom in relation to all of this. I believe there are a Thousand Words to be spoken (yes, I made that pun) about fandom and I probably wouldn't be able to cut it down to the 60 seconds the videos required anyway, ha ha... But for what it's worth;
I'm not gonna go into my story or full relationship with FF for the reason mentioned above, but to me fandom is not necessarily about what you do or what you own. My room/place is completely stocked up and decorated with official FF merchandise (and some Kingdom Hearts + other SE stuff), and yet I don't count this as the one reason to be chosen as a biggest fan. You do what you can to get what you want. Some people might be pretty poor and can't purchase all the lovely Final Fantasy merchandise despite their heart's true devotion to the franchise. Personally, I'm neither rich nor poor, but I spend all the money I possibly can on FF merchandise and save on nearly everything else, including going out, the little things (that are supposed to matter, lol), food... Anything I can to be able to purchase the products. I don't need them to feel like a better fan or to prove myself. I just genuinly love it and enjoy what I get. I wish I could afford everything, big and small.
FF (and FF related things) seems to be the one thing that can reduce me to tears. During my first Distant Worlds concert, my head was heavy from dehydration at the end, lol. Every song, new tears.
But now I'm turning it into my personal experiences which I said I wouldn't so... My point is just that I think fandom lies in your heart and what you feel. It can't be PROVED to the exterior world, but it also depends on each individual's personal view on what proves something.
Don't take my words as the definition of my own fandom. I might speak ever so finely about it, but I couldn't even try to prove my fandom. It's precious, personal and impossible to define.
Devote yourself the way that is right for you and know with yourself what your passion means to you.
Something general I wrote when I started playing Theatrhythm:
"Memories Forever Crystallized in Melodious Rhythm"
And so it is.
I realize the game is over by now, and the "complaints" have already been answered and discussed... But I feel a regret about this thing that I'm going to write regardless. I rarely really express much feeling towards other things than FF, so this is definitely a unique happening for me. (FF remains of beyond godly status to me, but this competition sparked a different concern).
This is about the selected countries issue, to those who do not feel like reading through my post to find the cause of the issue and this message is meant for SE regardless of who sees it:
Firstly, I am the type that solely believes that the passion of the fandom comes from the heart, and that no title, recognition or social understanding can justify what I feel for FF and therefore I feel I am good even without a title, because I know with myself what FF means to me and I don't need anything to prove it to myself or anyone else.
Despite all of this I have - for years - harbored a secret wish to one day receive the honor of holding such a title, even if it is not NECESSARY. All the recognition I've gotten from fellow fans and friends is in a league of its own... Receiving the recognition OFFICIALLY from Square Enix themselves would be the top of any such league. They are the ones I have been adoring. Final Fantasy is what I have been adoring...
Then I see the announcement of the competition, thinking the secret dream a foolish thing that would never happen. It's finally happening. The announcement projects a message that someone will be named the world's first Final Fantasy superfan, World's first...
When I then later find out that EU in this case doesn't include Scandinavia, I feel the announcement message is misleading. Whoever wins might not really be the world's first FF fan. Someone else is going to get the OFFICIAL title of being the first superfan of the world. There is no world. There's "selected areas". It might not feel as good for the one who wins, whoever it is, but I stand firm and believe that the message itself should be changed. I don't mind another winner than me, but the title they are getting is misleading, and it's a shame for the person who wins. Naturally the winner might not even consider this if they win, which is great for them at least.
Also, 300 entries... And 4-ish days to get entries in? Does this competition even want a superfan to win? At the very least, I am confident A superfan will win this, but maybe I am just overanalyzing all of this. I think it's just the "world's first" part that gets to me. Makes it seem like the winner will be crowned as the worlds biggest FF fan, when the reality quite possibly is very different. But meh, the issue has been addressed, and I do find some comfort in Bateman's words + my initial statement about how I just need FF and myself to be content. I'm just wording my thoughts on this whole matter.
I would however be very interested in a remake for handhelds, with the same old style, pre-rendered backgrounds, 3D characters, but everything a lot more polished and detailed plus new content and some extra characters.
But hey! this is all out of topic here! You should take it to the SE Forums and discuss it there. :)
Anyway I submitted my entry a few days ago in a rush. 60 seconds was not enough >.< I am praying with all my heart that I get through to the voting stage!
does that count for anything?
Me for example didnt start playing FF games till i found FF 7 and that was only luck that i found this small game shop here in the UK and they were selling a handfull of import games from U.S. FF7 was among them.Since then i have collected every FF game out there and yes i do mean everyone of them including that one DIRGE...
Anyway even though i have played them all and beat them all except FF13 and FF13-2 lol wont even get into that. And even though i played FF 11 for over 7 years gave up for personal reasons my son was a fan because of me when he died the game FF 11 wasnt the same. And i pre ordered most of them including FF 14 and i paid over £700 pounds for new laptop to play it and £70 for the collecter's game thats realy as far as i go i dont go to events or dress up or anything like that mainly cause most events are in japan and other far away places.
Anyway long way to say am i a supper fan and if not what makes one?
On a side note, after you upload the video you have to fill in the header and some info, you can not submit if the text is too long. just saying coz the warning message does not make sense
I kinda want to make a video myself, but I don't think I have enough time. Oh well, best of luck to those who enter!
Não sei falar Espanhol, só Português. Precisas de ajuda com que jogo?
There are bound to be a lot more fans worldwide than 300, this is more of a ' who is the fastest fan' contest.
My Collection is extensive, it took me 2 days just to shoot the footage.

Olli
I loved him as a character... So cute.
I do not get why people dislike him.
There are a lot of FF huge fans in many different countries that would love to take part on competition like this one such as my self but I can't, and this is a really Big competition that should have been open for everyone worldwide or at least all of Europe.
Not to mention the competitions of SE north america!
All fans are equall and all fans deserve the same treatment!
I totally understand your frustration, I really do. With Europe we have to take into consideration the competition laws of each country (that tend to differ vastly) and the localisation and logistics that are involved. I did my best to push for this competition to be available to even more countries (ideally everyone!) but unfortunately we weren't able to make this happen within the time frame we had available.
All I can say is that I'm sorry for this. Just because you can't enter doesn't mean you're any less of a fan. Your feedback and support truly matter, I can promise you that.
