Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn beta begins!

At the beginning of the week we started to invite a select number of lucky testers into our Final Fantasy XIV: A Ream Reborn beta. After almost two years of development it's really exciting to be able to let members of the public into the servers to try the game out for the first time.

Beta Test Phase 1 allows players to create characters in all races and genders, capped at a maximum level of 35. You'll be able to progress along some of the main scenario, take part in side-quests and class-quests, as well as try the FATE system (Full Active Time Events). And yes, this does mean there will be dungeons to explore and a new 'behest' to champion.

A word of warning however, for those of you who did get into the beta; don't get too attached to your characters as they'll be deleted for Phase 2 of the beta. It’s pretty normal for that to happen early on in a beta, and while it means starting again later into the testing phase, it does give you the opportunity to experiment to your heart's content and help us identify and fix those niggling issues.

Currently the number of people who can join the beta is limited, but those with legacy accounts are guaranteed entry. If you haven't got a beta key yet and are eager to jump in, we'll be sending out waves of invites during the next few phases of the beta, so make sure you register your interest here. Initially the beta is just for PC players, but you can expect to see the PlayStation 3 testing to start during Phase 3 of the beta.

There's a beta test scheduled for this weekend, so make sure to join in if you can. Head to the forums for full details, and remember, while we know those of you who made it into the beta are very excited, there is a strict NDA in place. Take the time to read it and be careful - we don't want to have to revoke anyone's account! If you're looking for someone to play with just say so in the forums or keep your eye out for "radMonkey" - that'll be me.

We'll also be giving away some beta keys to some lucky readers of the Square Enix blog and our followers on Twitter, so check back for opportunities coming soon!

I have a Beta Key, but I can't get into the game... They say they are looking into the problem, so I hope they can figure out what's wrong. Otherwise my Beta Key is kinda useless.
Sweetttt.!
awesome
cool><!
@Fekurai, please read the XIV beta forum first before logging in, because if you don't you'll come across problems such as the one you're having now. The XIV beta is not on every day, only select days, please read the forum first before any further confusions.

Hello! I bought FFXiii, but has lost its code. How can it be restored?
@Enkidoh Thanks for the response. That is the information I was searching for. I guess I'll hop in line with the others waiting for the FFXIV Golden Ticket To The Beta Show. However the blog also says that Beta Keys will be given out in the blogs and on twitter. Will that be for Phase 2 Beta or Phase 3?
@zumo34: XD
@ Stat1124: 'Legacy status' is for FFXIV players only - it has nothing to do with FFXI. To have qualified for Legacy you needed to have paid for at least 3 months worth of continuous subscription for the original version of FFXIV last year - as FFXIV 1.0 is now shutdown it can no longer be qualified for.

This page on the Lodestone has all the information about Legacy: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/campaign/campaign.html#legacy
The beta says those with "Legacy Status Holders" will be able to participate in the beta. Does that mean those who played FFXI or just those who played FFXIV??
@Mihone I'm laughing so hard at that last comment and I don't even know why! XD
Oh, God! What i have done! I launched a wave of beggars!
i need a key plz!

hercules_tecnico@hotmail.com
Who has a key?) Give me please)
Whanna key! =3=
@Enkidoh Thanks! ^.^
@ ClipselX: that would http://twitter.com/ff_xiv_en (it's listed on the main FFXIV ARR website found though the link above)
What is their Twitter Account? Anyone know?
Just wish I could visit the forums in any way.
I bought FFXIV a week ago, didn't realize registration was down completely, and thus can't visit the forums :(

Guess I'll have to hope for a beta invite, or the release of the game!
@: rayegel. Unfortunately, the original version of FFXIV which you have is no longer playable (the servers were shutdown at the end of last year). A Real Reborn will not be free to play either - it wil require a paid subscription to access, just like the original version.
@ Bibibook: that's unfortunate, and it is your choice whether you want to play ARR or not, but I can definetely say it will be well worth the purchase (if you had an active FFXIV account you'll be able to upgrade to ARR for free anyway when the game is released). Just have a little a faith. :)
is the game free to play om pc?
>have my game for 2years and newer installed it
Look don't want to rain on anyones parade! But Im still sitting here looking at a FF14 limited edition box I I shelled out good bucks for thats nothing more than a paperweight! I would love to play FF14 gain to see the improvements, But after the FF14 debacle ( played till about a year and some change ago) It will be like pulling teeth to get me to buy in again! If I don't get in the beta pc/ps3 (or unless you guys are clueless this is mainly delayed for the ps4) ps4. It will take a lot for me to commit to buying this game! I tell you what if I do and it blows! I will neer buy another SE game again!
Can't wait for PS3 Beta!
I missed out on FFXIV 1.0 due to PC issues, but I have a new machine that is ready for some beta testing. Only missing a beta key now. >_<
I'm sooooooo excited for this game!!! Didn't get into beta, but no biggy. I'm just ecstatic that its finally starting :D
Congrats to all who got in.
From all that I had seen of it from videos and whatnot it looked amazing. And I'm happy to hear it even made improvements. It already was a pre-order case for me, but now I'll be sure to save some money on the side for this. Just like I'm doing with Lightning Returns and the Kindom HD 1.5 REMix. Not to forget FF X HD.

Square Enix is releasing a lot I want this year, I can't wait.
I'm not sure how much of FF XIV I will like, seeing as I prefer console games over MMORPGs. I generally don't like that much, but I'm sure it being FF and seeing the great games Square Enix makes I will like it well enough to finish the story, or even like it more than I would expect. I would've played more MMORPGs of Square Enix, I've seen some, but my computer is not strong enough and only until recently did I figure out there is a ps2 version of FF XI.
I'm also very excited! I also haven't got into the Beta but fingers crossed. Hope everyone will enjoy it as much as i know i will!
This game sounds amazing and I can't wait for it to launch! Hoping to get into Beta at some stage along the line, but If I don't I still have the launch to look forward too! :D
