Gamer Chat: Guest Blogging

Here at Square Enix Europe HQ we've been putting our collective minds together and thinking a lot more about the blog and you, the Community. We've really enjoyed the Community Spotlights and as far as we can tell they've gone down pretty well with you too. But now we're looking at new ways we can step it up a notch and get you joining in more of the fun. So we thought maybe guest blogging?

What if you we're invited by Square Enix to guest blog on the website, what would you say? Would you show off your dedication by posting photos of your Square Enix collection? Would you write about your favourite moment in video games? Would you want to run a quiz? Do you even think this is a good idea?

Let us know in the comments below and if there's enough positive feedback and good ideas, we'll look into making it happen. Feel free to bounce your ideas off each other, collaborate but please stay constructive. There are no wrong answers.

I as well agree with "zumo34", an Edit button would be of so much use. In regards to the guest blogging, wouldn't it be easier if users were allowed to post their own blogs on their profiles, which other users could comment on? Square Enix Members could then feature some of the best plogs on their homepage for others to see every few weeks or so.
I'm new here, someone can explain me your argoment...
I completely agree with zumo34 about an editing button for our comments, it is something really helpfull.
...I was surprised to see that spelling (Renoa instead of Rinoa) first thing on both SEM NA and SEM EU when I checked the news this morning. What a coincidence.

Nothing has been officially stated (outside of the game) regarding this matter.
is renoa really ultimecia ? can someone answer ?
Would it be possible to view the guest blogs on say Facebook and Twitter? Would be another cool way to communicate?
Odd there's been no new blogs or any other news in the past 7 days? ******
We would potentially promote guest blogs the same way we do with our own official post.

Apologies for the lack of blog posts lately. I had to take some emergency leave.
Make it happen! It's a great idea! Nice way for us to share thoughts about the games we love with everyone. Plus it could also be a good way for us to intereact with SE better by making Poll's and such, helps let you know what the community wants.

Since we are on the subject of new idea's, how about a little edit button for our comment's? So we won't need to post twice if we forget to add anything to the post ect. And also a Square Enix Community App for Android, IOS, ect. Good way to make the website mobile friendly and easier way to access the site if we are out and about or too lazy to turn on our computers! :P You could also intergrate the 'Guest Posting' feature into the app, as well as other things, purchasing games to later download on computers when we switch them on. Im sure you can think of great idea's for it!
hello sorry to bring it up again but still not herd anything about the deus ex comp??
I'm on it. Sorry that is totally all my fault.
@Nightmare

1. Laguna is indeed Squall's father.
2. The only relation between Griever and Squall's ring is that in the final battle Ultimecia read Squall's mind to see what he considered the strongest being and then created Griever based on that.
3. There's no real explanation for Squall recovering from the wound except "it's magic".
Great idea! But it has to be done well, one should be able to answer a comment so that the person who wrote the comment is able to see the answer (for example like "tags" on facebook), we need more avatars (and the possibility to put our owns), a specific space for each game, etc. If well done i would spend much more time on this site than i do now
Since I come here mostly to demand PS1/PS2 games to be re-released on PSN, I'd make a post where I'd ask people to vote for five PS1 and five PS2 games they want to see most. It would be a nice way to gauge actual demand and tell the company which old games to focus on next. I'd have to know what is the complete range of PS1/PS2 games Square-Enix has European publishing rights to, of course.
Another good idea which came to my mind right now would be to randomly interview some of the fans. Ask them how they were introduced to Square Enix games like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. Ask them about their favourite ingame moments. And obviously photos of Square Enix collections can also be included :)
I would share my thoughts and theories on certain aspects of the games. For example Final Fantasy VIII is full of mysteries: Is Laguna truly Squall's father? What is the relation between Squall's ring and Griever? How come Squall fully recovers after the end of disc1?

These kind of mysteries are not only present in Final Fantasy VIII but in other games as well. I think this way, fans would be able to express their opinion and present different views.

I think the quiz should be an integrated part of the website and members who answer the questions correctly should receive points and be listed in a leaderboard.
@Grimoire That would be great! :D Like!
Any chance we can have kingdom hearts in Theatrhythm final fantasy :P
Sounds amazing. You would have difficulty keeping me off it. If you wanted to you could even make it an app :)
Sounds cool. :)
Really great idea. By doing this guest blog we can share a lot of things between us like, ideas, photos and ton of stuff about our beloved games. This is something that should definitely happen. No matter what exchanging ideas is always a good thing and only great stuff should come out of this.
Buenas noches, me gustaria que alguien, me diera una explicación de por qué no se traduce el juego del Kingdom Hearts 3D, en lugar de disculparse y pedir perdon por lo sucedido.
I like the idea of guest blogging. There isn't really that much to do on here other than read SE posted articles and comment on them, so it would be a great idea. I think it would be interesting to see what SE members post.

As for me potentially blogging about something, maybe I could post some of my own and others art based on SE games, maybe showcase a bit of everything SE fans have made and posted online to show their love for the games. I don't really have much of a collection to show off, and I'm definitely not going to be able to think of enough material to come up with a decent blog post about my favourite moments from these games.... Maybe I shouldn't be involved... I might end up boring the other members xD The only issue is if there isn't enough members here who could come up with something unique every time, it would pretty much be the same or similar posts each week/month, just from someone else's perspective. But yeah even if that still happened, I would still love to see it!
I heard Kingdom Hearts 3D won't be released by Nintendo in Spain, but Koch Media. Will this affect the release date or availability of the game?
* because whenever some-one try to explain the reasons i can give other examples the ps1 classics tomb raiders is 1 of them.
hmm i could write up a investigation article about "why is EU getting shafted by DEVs & SCEE" so we can have a better understanding of being treated unfairly.

but I refuse to do it because the policy of devs with EU sucks so i won't >_>'
I had big plans and hopes for this. I anticipated a feature like that, and even planned out some content I would write. I feel like I can write about Square Enix and Final Fantasy indefinitely.

However, as things are now, and due to what happened, it is more unlikely than it was before.
That being said, maybe you shouldn't ask me to participate in this very interesting project... ^_^'
Sounds like a great idea to me, too. Hmm...but what would I write about? I normally only work with "lost" media and titles, such as finding and digitalizing the forgotten Nomura chibi pictures and battle explanation comics he did for FINAL FANTASY VII, summarizing and collecting screenshots and videos from the long gone DIRGE of CERBERUS PlayOnline, translating gameplay videos, scripts and character descriptions from BEFORE CRISIS (since the game was never released outside of Japan and I waited for five years for someone to make a decent and complete translation of the game so that we didn't have to miss out on this very important part of the Compilation), etc....
As the guy who ran the quiz, I can tell you this is definitely a good idea =)

Though one thing I thought then, and still think now, is that pieces like this are more suited to a forum. When you talk about 'Community', it brings to mind the process of discussion, and to me that's just not possible with a comment system on articles.

You want to be able to see more of the conversation, in terms of full view of the posts, viewing more posts etc. (without needing to click buttons) You want to be able to reply to specific posts, and edit your own e.g. if I wanted to updated rules in the quiz, I'd have to officially contact you to do it for me. Also going back to the community, I'm sure you'd find many people on here who would jump at the chance to be forum moderators for you.

I don't know, I guess I'm going off the point a bit lol. But yes, guest blogging as an awesome idea, and whichever way you incorporate it (if you do), I'm sure it'll go down well.

P.S. I'd love a chance to show off my dedication through pictures of my Square Enix collection =P
