Site downtime – database updates

We’re going to go quiet for a couple of days due to some necessary database work. The site will still be here for most of the time, and you’ll still be able to comment on stories – although there will be some downtime (probably on Wednesday) when you won’t be able to access the site.
Of course, we'll still be chirping away on Twitter, so make sure you follow us for regular updates.
So you won’t see any updates for a couple of days… but it’s not because we don’t still love you or anything. We really, really do.

Meh, I'm a PS user. I've been sticking with Sony's line of console's since the PS era and have most of them, excluding the Vita. I'll also be purchasing the 4 since I was pretty much blown away during the presentation (even though we didn't actually get to see it). Plus, some of my favorite titles are on Sony consoles including the new FF that will be revealed at E3. I'm definitely interested in what Microsoft have planned though, and I will watch their presentation. But, some of the things I've heard like the the new Illumniroom (or at least I think that's what they call it) extention for the Kinect is a bit too much for an old-class gamer like me who needs his controller and a normal screen to look at. Heck, even the Kinect is way too complicated and difficult to get used to. How could anyone expect to play games without some sort of controller? Also, there's rumors going around saying the new console needs 24/7 internet connection. Even my PC doesn't have that much internet! This would be something that would make me turn away from Microsoft, even if I had previous consoles. If I were to buy something other than Sony, it would be a Nintendo 3DS.Posted by neo_bahamut on 16/05/2013 21:28
As many games that are required-online to play this year, would seem kinda silly to think companies would stop this trend w the next-gen. Companies can collect user statistics from required online play to use for their future products' improvements. And since the world is becoming more and more online, it would be a step in the wrong direction not to expect onlie requirements. It would seem silly based on that for Microsoft to continue to charge for online access, but the company is infamous for having a large head and not enough spine to support it.Posted by Yolteotl79 on 16/05/2013 19:16
I find it hard to believe that the next XBox will have a online requirment to play games. Its very likely that there will be little difference between the specs of the PS4 and the NextBox, so if MS went forward with the online requirement, gamers would simply prefer to play their multiplatform games on the PS4. I do expect the rumour about he NextBox having a cheaper version with the requirement of subscribing to Live for 2 years to be true. Its a nice way to make the NextBox a lot cheaper than the PS4, and MS certainly has the money to support this tactic.Posted by Tanthalas on 16/05/2013 18:55

I thought we were goina get something super sci-fi looking with a image like that.
It's shed it's skin so to speak, this pretty blankness is what was hidden under the black.
Though I have to say that I thought it was just an effect.
This needs exploring.
Oooo I really like the Game's page with the search function. It's really easy to use :D
Though after picking your platform, it sticks it there. Feels really unnecessary, wouldn't leaving that as a drop down list have been better? less page loading.
Everythings so pretty and clean and completely UN-SE-Like.
The poor blog page, It's been completely abused now :( so formal and boring.
The home page is super yummy too :D
Hmmm... wonder if everything is actually supposed to be white though. It's so strange...This'll take some getting used to.
