Square Enix Weekly Recap

Lots of things from the past week to be excited about, from OUYA support ("OOOO Yeaaaah!" as many of us like to pronounce it) to gearing up for gamescom 2012. What's got you talking?

I don't ask for anyone else to understand me, and I never speak for anyone else but myself. Also, I always make sure to make this clear.
Whatever I undertake, I give it 100% percent.
...The sole reason why I learnt Japanese in the first hand was so that I could make an English translation of the Before Crisis scripts found on a Japanese Before Crisis website (since a full translation of the scripts didn't exist back then). After having waited for several years for someone else to do it, I had no other choice if I wanted to understand the story of this part of the Compilation. However, I didn't do it because I "needed" to, I did it because I wanted to.

That being said: If I was able to do it (not to mention find the time) for such a simple reason, then everyone should be able to.

My opinion is my own, and that will never change. Everyone is free to say what they want, but I think they should take other people's opinions into consideration.

~There is nothing either right or wrong, but thinking makes it so~

.."fan", huh... -_-
Thank you for the answer – I think I understand you opinion and share it to a certain degree but as far as I can see the most people are only asking for news and not demanding anything. I think most of the think of it not more as only a game – they type there question and wait for an answer while they do something else in their life and some other type the question a few more times (patience comes with age ;) ). With Versus, LR (and XIII-2 patches) in the far feature there is not much activity here except the complaints about not working FF-VII-games.

Of course everyone could learn Japanese or at least try it but you need time for this and depending on the people more or less time and the most people are happy enough if they find some hours to relax a day (for example me from studying chemistry^^).

I don’t think you meant it that way but you should consider not only what you want to write but how it would appear to others. You have already learned the language so it sounds for other people easy for you to say to just import something and the part with fans appeared offensive/insulting. I don’t think every “fan” would fit your interpretation and some “not-fans” would fit in much better.
That’s of course just my opinion/advice – through just writing/reading posts in the internet it can be sometimes not easy to really understand one another.

P.S.:
If you want to see some really demanding fans – you should visit the german playstation forum and look in the “where is CS:GO-threads” there they are demanding and demanding and demanding and sony says “we are working at it”

P.P.S.: Congratulations to your nomination for FF’s greatest fan :D! Sorry but this still makes me smile *g*

I agree with Tanthalas & speedy there is another side of the discussion the words favouritism & trend comes to mind i been reading around the internet they more ppl want type-o more ppl want FFv13 1st then LR-ff13 after all it was announce i bet jack tretton feels like plat now saying it a Ps3 exclusive 6 year down the line we still waiting with jack.

i bet jack regret saying that at E3, funny enough this the E3 farce & type-0 are linked there is promises & broken promises misleading infor, second thoughts. the way i see it is a worrying trend there is a pattern forming take FFv13 & Type-0 the new trend is putting newer new IP that just announce before the older IP that was announce 6 years ago that the trend, ff13, ff13-2 & LR-ff13 is it.

i want type-0 for my vita, i dont speak japanese or attempt to because i was born british so my default language is obviously english the other reason i want it out is that worrying trend again if this is true & a minority can't be arsed dont want it doesn't care etc so type-o stays jp only that is worrying.

the other word i use is favouritism yes if type-o stays as jp only SE shows favouritism for japan. SE shows quite favouritism to NA then to EU, but like i said before this be the 2nd final fantasy we wont get so SE really need to think hard. you been toying with us over EU over the years do you want to flame us?

keep doing what you doing cynicism from around the Net with continue.
I simply said that I don't _need_ an English version of TYPE-0. It's just a game and life goes on even without it. If someone really "needs" this game, then it's not that hard to learn Japanese. It's not a matter of being giftet or not - as long as there is will enough you can even use the Internet to educate yourself.

I don't like it when someone takes it for granted that "everyone wants this and that". "Many", or even "most of" a group of people, yes, but not everyone.

Of course, an English version of TYPE-0 would be very much appreciated even by me (and that is also why I haven't imported the game but instead waited for a localization), but it's not like I really have to play said title.

Actually, I even bought and made an English translation of the TYPE-0 manga.

"Fan" is simply not a word I would use to describe myself. I just happen to enjoy some of SQUARE ENIX's stories.
Just remembered - Out of couriosity sorry Grimoire but your opinion is hard to understand. Of course its only SE's buisnes if/how/when they release a game somewhere but its just like with books or films when you get interested enough you want to try it out. For people who are not so much gifted in languages have to hope for a localization - of course the orginal is most times better but if you dont have the possibility to unterstand it.

As I could the the most people dont say "the need it" only "they wish for it" and thats even some kind of praise for SE when many people takes interested in there products - they other way around would be much worse.

Of course life goes on with or without but would be richer with point1. So I cant see whats wrong in hoping for a localization. And what about the "fan" part ? - not every one/fan is the same and considering that this is plattform mostly for people who likes SE-Products (in other words fans more or less) it sounds a bit funny especially most people reading here would consider you a fan too.

For myself - especially after trying the demo- version I would be happy if a english version will be released but up to that I just sit and wait drink tea/water/study/play other games and read the german translation of malazan books of the fallen (the german publisher of this is even more terrible as SE :P )

Sorry I'm not good in writing about those things especially not in my own language

Definitely Hitman!! Though I am new to the series, I love the feature where we can change our outfit to sneak in.. I mean in most if not all of the stealth game, you don't really get that cool feature... And Eidos changed my views of WRPG... Because though Deus Ex:HR is my first DE game I enjoyed it immensely.. But I hope to see new IPs... GO GO EIDOS!!! Love you guys and thank you!!

On a side note.. Still waiting eagerly for FF Versus... Can't wait for September to come.. Please, Japan SE... Surprise us fans with good news! Also, not to forget FFX remake! Grant me my wish with a PS VIta bundle.. Which somehow is the main reason why I am still not getting PSVita.. Really want to buy a Vita with exclusive arts on it! :P
I was stating my own opinion, Tanthalas. I don't like it when someone takes it for granted that "we, [all of] the fans" need this and that. That's why I wanted to express my own thoughts on this matter, and that is also why I don't enjoy talking to fans.

Japanese Portal Site - Theme Skins
Choose between FF, FFII and FFIII (for now) to customize the website. Amazing feature, don't you say?

I will second tehcec's comment but... I don't know how much use it will be.
Hi, I had trouble finding anywhere else to ask this question, but do you have any idea if PS1 titles FF-Tactics and Chrono Cross are ever coming to the EU PS3store?
Ben, I understand that you can't disclose anything but I just want you to know that I know there are thousands of people out there who want Final Fantasy Type-0 to get released outside of Japan. Most of us don't speak the language and we've been waiting for a while for this release. Even if it were to come out for the Vita that'd be great, I'd buy a Vita just for this game since their library isn't that great right now. You should just mention this around the office and some higher-ups and maybe that would push Japan to hurry up on localizing it for an International release. Thanks.
@Grimoire

That's a really reductive way of seeing the issue with Type-0.

While I don't see a reason to try to beat Type-0 info out of Ben, importing Type-0 from Japan isn't much of an option for people in Europe as Japanese is far from being a commonly learned language over here. Just because you're satisfied with the situation that doesn't mean that everyone else is.

As for Type-0 itself, I honestly don't have much hope left for seeing it be released outside Japan. Both the NA and EU branches of SE never mention the game.

The only way I see Type-0 being released outside Japan is if they make a Vita version. But that too seems unlikely with each day that passes.

Its always annoying when good games aren't released worldwide.
Thank you Ben.
Ben, thanks for the attention. I understand the position you are in. I don't understand though why does your company approach this product the way it does. No information disclosure such as herein looks extremely unnatural to me, to the point that I'm concerned about Final Fantasy Type-0's international release.

As soon as you're able to, please update us with the new information. We would greatly appreciate any positive news.
...I don't _need_ any new information regarding TYPE-0. Actually, I don't see how anyone (apart from the members of the SQUARE ENIX staff themselves) could possibly "need" to know whether this particular title will be released outside of Japan or not. It's just a game, so it's not that important (unless you actually work on/with it). If I really had to play it, I would import it from Japan right away (just like I did with the TYPE-0 manga, novel and artbook). Nevertheless, I don't doubt that I would enjoy playing an English release of said title to the fullest. And the same goes for Versus. Yet, I am fully satisfied with what I've got.
Ben, would it be possible for you to post a valid schedule for THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY DLC for EU on this blog? The schedules online including the one linked here are invalid, as a few songs which apparently aren't released until later this week/month are already available (Battle Theme from FFX I think was one example) and music which should already be available isn't (March of the dreadnoughts from FFXIII for example).

I don't mean to cause any problems but I don't know when any of the tracks are going to be available because I can't find a valid EU schedule anywhere online, so could you please look into it? It would be great if you could look into it for us.
I'm waiting for the full details to be sent to me but when they do I'll post them.
Thing is Ben, we are not asking for some delicate information, we just need positive feedback on the simple query about product's release. You can't convince me that there's a legitimate justification for the silence regarding this game.

Also, you call it how things work. I call it a problem. Being a problem, it should be worked on and fixed, not shrugged off and have people live with it. If you don't see it as a problem... there's another problem.
I'm not here to change your opinion and convince you, I'm just here to offer you Square Enix's standpoint, tell you how it is. I'm sorry that I can't answer your question but there's nothing I can do about it. What information is publicly available and the reasons behind it are not my decision. Like I said, if could tell you more or give you an update I wouldn't hesitate, but it's not my decision. I do however relay these concerns from the community internally within Square Enix.
Is there some kind of a policy that forbids you from disclosing information on Final Fantasy Type-0?

Why are you so keen on keeping your fans worrisome in anticipation?
Unfortunately that's just how things tend to work in the games industry, there's a lot of behind the scenes going-ons we just can't talk about. I know this is more-so the case with Square Enix and you're eager to find out more, but I simply don't have any updates that I can disclose at this time, sorry. As soon as we've got an announcement I'll be posting it straight away, I promise.
