Turn to 400 - The Fighting Fantasy Documentary Film

In the days before Eidos, Ian Livingstone’s multifaceted career found him writing literature. Banding together with Steve Jackson they sought to bring fantasy and role-playing games to the imaginative minds of boys and girls across the country. Their first book ‘The Warlock of Firetop Mountain’ was an instant hit and led to their publisher ask for them to write more books “as quickly as possible”. It wasn’t long before Fighting Fantasy became a household name.

Fighting Fantasy took young readers on an adventure of their own choosing, allowing them to jump back and forth through the pages of a book based on their choices. Arguably, Fighting Fantasy and Games Workshop – another of Ian’s early pursuits - sowed the seeds of adventure games for future generations, with his experiences and contributions to the games industry building up to his position today as Life President of Eidos.

Turn to 400 is a Kickstarter by ex-BBC director - and self-proclaimed fan - Sean Riley to produce a documentary detailing the Fighting Fantasy saga.

If - like me - you remember reading Fighting Fantasy as a kid or perhaps you want to know more about Ian Livingstone’s colourful career, head to the Kickstarter page to donate now. Turn to 400 needs to crowd-source £40,000 form like-minded fans and in true Kickstarter fashion it’s all or nothing!

There are plenty of tiers to choose from, ranging between as little as £1 to a massive £3000 - which will let you influence how the story is told, an Associate Producer credit, and a whole host of other rewards. But don’t wait, there’s only nine days to go before it funding closes on Friday November 30…
