March is here and more sale madness is in the air. Starting today we have not one, but TWO different sales for you to peruse as we look ahead to the Easter hols. Time to stock up on entertainment goodies!

First up, starting today for one week is the special Spring sale on the Square Enix store where everything is 75% OFF (except the new Tomb Raider, which is 25% off!)

I don’t think I need to explain how sweet those deals are, so head on over to the Square Enix Store some time between now and March 27 to get some cheapness.

Also, PlayStation gamers should take note – add-on content for Sleeping Dogs, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Just Cause 2 is also HALF PRICE in SCEE regions. But… oh! What’s this? PS Plus users also get an extra 15% off too!

Sleeping Dogs

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Just Cause 2

Hitman: Absolution

The PlayStation sale lasts a bit longer, until April 2, so if you’ve not yet grabbed those games, now’s a pretty good time I’d say.

Enjoy!

Cliffs and Caves map pack out now on Xbox Live

Have you reached that magical 100 per cent completion rate in Tomb Raider's single player and seen everything the island of Yamatai has to offer? Well, give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done - but don't put that controller down quite yet. Multiplayer awaits; with precious XP to be earned and achievements to unlock, there's plenty to keep you entertained.

To make the challenging quest to reach level 60 even more enjoyable, today we've released three new maps for Tomb Raider's multiplayer mode:

Scavenger Caverns

An extensive subterranean network of caves used by the island’s scavengers as an underground prison.

Cliff Shantytown

This scavenger settlement was built high up on the island cliffs. Its many layers hide some of the deadliest traps on the island.

The Burning Village

A raging fire has embraced an abandoned Japanese village, the burning buildings offer multiple ways to escape or engage your enemies.

At 400 MSP it's hard to say no! Grab it now and I'll see you online - that is, if you dare challenge me!

New Lightning Returns 'Dead Dunes' screenshots

Hungry for more Lightning Returns details? Well if our Q&A with Toriyama-san and Kitase-san failed to quench your needs then how about five new screenshots of the Dead Dunes?!

The Dead Dunes (as the name implies) is a region of desert, sand dunes, and the odd oasis. As Lightning explores the terrain she'll find hidden ruins riddled with treasure to be discovered and important information to unearth that can aid her on her quest. But, stray too far from civilisation and the harsh wilderness is sure to prey on you.

When things get a little sticky and enemies attack, Lightning can use a series of special abilities. One such ability is "Lightspeed" which allows Lightning to slow down the passage of time, rendering foes helpless before she unleashes a ferocious attack. Of course it comes at a price; Energy Points - so it's best kept as a last resort!

That's all the information we have for you this time, but keep checking back on the blog because more Lightning news will be on its way soon!

Square Enix Weekly Recap: 18/03/2013

It's scary how quickly time passes us by! With Tomb Raider in the hands of happy gamers around the world, you'd think we might get a moments rest, but no, our work here is far from over. While the team work hard on bug fixes, patches, and new downloadable content, I'll be escaping away for a brief holiday. As always I'll leave you in Phil's hands, but somewhat reluctantly. Did you see the mess he made of that London bus the other day?

  • Is data mining really that boring? - Sifting through reams of data may sound mundane and something you'd only chose to do to escape meeting the in-laws, but it actually helps when trying to balance Heroes & Generals.

In the news

There's a survivor in all of us

Watching gamers all around the world play the game you've been working hard on for many years is always going to be a nerve-racking experience. Thanks to a huge network of servers, genius programmers, and expert metric analysts, we have the tools needed to paint a picture of how people are playing our games.

On Tomb Raider's launch day we were on tenterhooks; staring at a giant monitor as the first few people jumped into the game and the live statistics appeared. And boy, was it like opening the floodgates! The stream of data came rushing in, and while the experts in our office were keeping an eye out for any problems, I instead enjoyed tracking some of the more interesting statistics.

Did you know that in your collective mission to survive and quash Lara's hunger - but of course also to suck up that all-important XP - the community has killed a collective 5,294,879 deer? Sorry Bambi...

FeeFee and his friends didn't fare much better either, with the community collectively killing a total of 1,417,750 crabs - snatching you an achievement in the process.

But killing deer and eating crab cakes isn't what makes Lara a survivor. Together you've taken everything that's thrown at you, escaping the clutches of death, delivering Lara to safety so she can fight another day. Lara has had 13,742,891 close calls and you've outwitted your enemies by dodging them 11,067,764 times.

No arrow in the knee jokes here - you're incredibly skilful with the bow! You've risked it all to save your loved ones, dispatching 147,675,058 enemies with the bow (20,601,083 of those with fire arrows). And not being one to be waste resources you've looted and salvaged a total of 356,988,302 arrows from fallen enemies.

But what makes Lara more than just a survivor to us? She's a Tomb Raider reborn, and together you've embarked on an adventure that's revealed 3,570,956 tombs between you all!

Keep on playing, and we’ll keep on tracking. We’ll have more updates from Lara’s world in due course.
