THIEF Lock Picking Competition Rules

To celebrate the European release of THIEF on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (the “Game”) on 28 February 2014, we are offering you the chance to win one of a number of great THIEF related prizes by taking part in a lock picking challenge.


General Information

The Thief Lock Picking Competition (the “Competition”) is operated and promoted by Square Enix Ltd (“Square Enix”), 240 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NW.


Important Notice

PLEASE READ THESE COMPETITION RULES (“RULES”) CAREFULLY. By entering the Competition you agree to accept and be bound by these Rules.


Eligibility

  1. To be eligible to enter the Competition you must be a resident of the United Kingdom who is 16 (sixteen) years of age or over. We may require proof of age to be provided to us as a prerequisite to entry to the Competition.

  2. Employees of Square Enix, any third party providing the Competition Prizes or their agents or suppliers are not eligible to enter the Competition.

  3. You may be disqualified from the Competition if we have reasonable grounds to suspect your are in breach of any of these Rules or your participation in the Competition is fradulent or otherwise unlawful.


The Competition

When and where?

  1. The Competition will take place on Friday, 28 February 2014 at the following GAME stores, between 11.00 and 17:00 GMT (”the Competition Period”):

    • Bullring Birmingham - Bullring, Birmingham, B5 4BU

    • Manchester - Trafford Centre, 35 Peel Avenue,Manchester, Greater Manchester, M17 8DF

    • Sheffield - Meadowhall Shopping Centre, Sheffield, S9 1ER

    • Southampton - West Quay Centre, Southampton, Hampshire, SO15 1QD

    • West Thurrock - Lakeside Shopping Centre, Thurrock, Essex, RM16 1WT

    • Norwich - 2-10 Back of the Inns, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 1PT

    • Newcastle - 3 Chevy Chase, Eldon Square, Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, NE1 7XP

    • Westfield Stratford - Stratford City, London, E15 2EN

    • Edinburgh - St James Centre Edinburgh EH1 3SL

    • Cardiff - Grand Arcade, St Davids 2 Centre, Cardiff, CF10 2ER

  2. The Competition Period will be live from 11.00 am until the Prize in each particular chest is won or until such other time as Square Enix otherwise determines in its absolute discretion.

How to enter

  1. Entry to the Competition shall take place on on a ’first-come, first-served’ basis and eligible entrants shall form an orderly queue at the Competition stand during the Competition Period for their opportunity to enter.

  2. Square Enix does not guarantee that all indivduals who are elligible to enter the Competition will be able to enter by virtue of their queueing at the Competition stand and entry to the Competition is strictly subject to both the availbility of Pr izes and the time constraints imposed by the Competition Period. Square Enix reserves the right to disqualify any potential Competition entrant that seeks to ’jump the queue’ or otherwise fails to conduct his or herself in an orderly manner whilst waiting for an opportunity to enter the Competition.

  3. One locked chest containing a parchment detailing one of the Prizes (see below) will be placed in teach Game store listed above. Each Competion entrant shall attempt to pick the lock on that chest using only those lock picking tools provided to them. Each entrant shall have [5][minutes] to attempt to open his or her selected chest..

  5. An entrant who successfully opens his or her selected chest within the allotted time shall win the Prize detailed on the parchment contained in that chest.

  6. Each entrant may enter the Competition once only.

  7. No purchase is necessary as a condition of entry to the Competition.

  8. The Prizes available to winning entrants are:

    • 2 x PS4

    • 2 x AMD gaming rigs

    • 2 x PS Vitas

    • 4 x Signed Thief Artbooks and £15 GAME voucher

    Each chest will contain one Prize.

  9. Once a chest has been opened GAME staff will collect details of the winner’s name and address for Square Enix to send out Prizes.

  10. Once opened the chest in that store is redundant.

  11. Square Enix reserves the right to change and/or substitute any of the Prizes at any time, in its sole discretion.

  12. There is no cash alternative to any of the Prizes. However, Square Enix reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute any Prize with cash or an alternative prize of comparable value

  13. All entrants will be required to provide their full name and age prior to entry into the Competition and Competition winners will be required to provide proof of age before a Prize is provided to them. If a winner fails to provide this additional information, the relevant Prize will be considered forfeit by the winner.

  14. All Prizes will be sent to winners within 28 (twenty eight) days of Square Enix receiving confirmation of the winner’s full name, age and delivery address within the UK.


Your details and privacy

  1. By entering the Competition, you grant Square Enix permission to use your name for the purpose of organising and/or managing the Competition.

  2. You also agree that if you are a winner of the Competition, Square Enix may use your name for promotional publicity purposes, including on its websites and blog and social media posts.

  3. The list of all entrants (including the winners’ names) will be deleted twelve months after the date of the Competition.


General

  1. By taking part in the Competition, you agree to be bound by these Competition Rules and the decisions of Square Enix which are final in all matters relating to the Competition. No correspondence will be entered into.

  2. To the extent permitted by law, Square Enix will not be liable for any injury suffered by a Competition entrant by virtue of their taking part in the Competition. For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in the preceeding sentence shall seek to limit or exclude Square Enix’s liability for death or personal injury arising from or caused by its negligence or that of its employees.

  3. Square Enix reserves the right at any time and for whatever reason to suspend or terminate the Competition or to amend these Rules without prior notice to entrants.

  4. These Competition Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and you agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

  5. By operation and promotion of the Competition, Square Enix in no way encourages, advocates or endorses any criminal or other illegal activity whether relating to the subject matter of the Competition or otherwise.
